Safari How To

Safari How To

The Hypothesis: You want to find specific solutions, procedures, and tutorials quickly when you search on Safari.

The Experiment: Enter a search term. Zero in on the precise information you need. When you locate a tutorial or solution, you can rate it, review it, add it to your My How Tos list, and if desired, print it. For this Beta on Safari Labs, you have access to over 70,000 How Tos drawn from more than 400 books.

Try It: Test drive Safari How To. Be one of the first to rate and review How Tos.

If you have a Safari Library subscription, you have full and unlimited access to Safari How To while it is in Beta on Safari Labs - over 70,000 How Tos drawn from more than 400 books.

If you have a Safari Library trial subscription, you will have full access to Safari How To while it is in Beta on Safari Labs for the length of your trial.

If you have a Safari Bookshelf subscription, you will be able to search for and view 50 How Tos in the Beta version on Safari Labs, even if the books from which they are drawn are not on your bookshelf. After 50 views, you can view preview versions of additional How To content.

Nested Search

Nested Search

The Hypothesis: Searching for information on Safari might be more efficient if users could combine search terms to reduce a long list of search results to a more targeted list.

The Experiment: Nested Search (sometimes referred to as iterative search or "digging") is an enhancement that enables users to narrow the focus of a search progressively - by adding more specific terms to the query.

Try It: Does nested search help you refine your search results? You can try it right here on Safari Labs! After an initial search, add more specific terms to focus the results list. You can also click a previously entered term to return to that point in your search.
